Reviews & Recommendations

The following were comments taken from a seminar held for Chester County Employees hosted by Melissa Walsh mwalsh@chesco.org:

"I left this first class feeling really empowered."

"I think it's great so far! I am really looking forward to the next three classes."

"The class is just what I was looking for! The instructor is great and he is projecting the correct attitude that I have been searching for.  Being a victim of abuse from childhood - I've read several books, and watch programs on the subject but I still needed more information.  I am looking forward to the next 3 classes!"

"I really liked the class. The instructor is realistic about the needs of clients (us) and the reality of teaching us basic things that could be used by anyone( our class is diverse in size, age ability and physical fitness)."

"Instructor was Terrific.  Clearly knowledgeable and very dynamic.  I am looking forward to our next class.  I believe I will be much safer after taking this class."

"I think the content and instructor are both very good.  I had hoped we wouldn't be taught so many techniques that we don't know which one to use in any given circumstance.  He seems to have good understanding of the subject matter and is a good presenter.  I assumed the first class would be mostly introduction, but I am sure we are going to learn some very valuable techniques in the next 3 classes.  I think it is great.  Thanks."

"I think I'll get allot out of it.  He is teaching/showing us a different way to think about defense."

"Dear Mr. Wakefoose:

The County of Chester’s Healthy Lifestyle Employee Wellness Program was grateful to have you conduct the Personal Defense Readiness course for county employees at our Government Services Center building in February.  Based on formal feedback surveys, our employees learned a great deal and plan to incorporate tactics and ideas learned into daily life. Participants commented on your professionalism, your realistic attitude about the topic and your clear understanding and explanation of tactics required for defending one’s self.

The Wellness Planning Committee is delighted that you will be offering the Personal Defense Readiness course at other county facilities so we can educate more of our 2,900 employees on these tactics.  We also look forward to expanding the type of programs you offer through our wellness and training departments.

There is a definite need among our employees and all adults this day and age to become better skilled at personal defense. Your workshop provided an excellent forum them to learn, ask questions and voice concerns.

Thank you again for such an informative and pleasant course."

"Taking Steve's class was an imperative step in my self-defense training.  It taught me how to use my innate reactions to a threat (which, with me, are quite jumpy) and convert them to a defense strategy.  I feel much more confident in my ability to fend off an attacker and am looking to host Steve at my school in the fall for further training.  Most importantly, I had a blast taking the class!"
